Is the weather weird, or is it weird!!! I am sitting here expecting thunder, rain and windstorms momentarily, the weather is in the high 60’s and low 70’s and it is February – good grief! And, speaking of weather, yes we did have our January meeting for a “few (40) brave souls”. Mayor Betsy Price was our speaker. I told her we wanted to give her the warmest of welcomes, but we certainly didn’t intend to drown her! And, by the way folks, the lasagna was wonderful . Sorry you missed it.
Mayor Betsy was most complimentary of EFW and our interest/participation to make all of Fort Worth a better place in which to live. After six months in office, she has made some changes and has put her emphasis on some different programs…one being our residential streets! Yea! She was most complimentary of Councilman Danny Scarth and she appreciated our support for him.
Councilman Scarth gave the latest information on Kroger’s closing. Apparently one of the reasons for closing was the condition of the property. They do not own this property and did not want to put needed renovation expense into a leased building. Danny has assured us they are working to find a good fit for another company.
Captain Scott Conn spoke briefly and is was good to see Lt. Wennig and Stewart as well as our NPO’s. Dennis Mitchell found an hour free to visit us. He has one busy schedule and we are always pleased to see him. We also had several new members who have joined Ryanwood NA for the first time.
EASTCHASE NEWS: The latest we have heard is Office Depot is moving to the northwest corner, formerly Petsmart, and Marshall’s will be right next door. No word as to who will take over the Office Depot property now on the east side of the center. Have you eaten at CiCi’s since they opened! Let’s all support our eastside businesses!!
NOTE FROM OUR NPO, Rene Lamond: Sharp increases in Burglary of Motor Vehicles in residential area…….several were NO FORCED ENTRY due to owners leaving vehicles unlocked!!!
